  1. Boats, RV's, motor coach's, buses, cars in general… once they catch fire, it's not long before they are toast… literally. They all burn fast and wild.

  12. That's a sad joke!  One tiny little dinghy on the water 'fighting' this massive fire?  Get real folks!  I know that Melbourne has REAL water ffire fighting brigade!  WHERE THE FUCK WERE THEY WHEN THEY WERE OBVIOUSLY SERIOUSLY NEEDED?  Wow!  Sad loss!

  16. Most yacht fires are caused by the electrical system and batteries.
On my Azimut 86, I have steadfastly avoided these new Nickel Metal Hydride batteries as they can suffer from "thermal runaway" and just overheat and explode.Countless of battery-fire on yachts.

Currently, in pursuit of weight savings, high CCAs, and deep cycling ability, I have switched to Lithium Ion Phosphate batteries with built-in battery mgmt system, by Genasun. Lovely battery, and it gives me a real peace of mind.

  20. The dock crew did nothing as far as the clip, When that stern line burns thru you have a hazard to other vessels and shipping. The three guys in an inappropriate craft with pathetically inadequate. A proper equiped fire boat could (ie firestorm 30) can pump 1750 gpm and move at 40knots.

  21. err… the vessel appears moored on the dock, is a fireboat really necessary in this situation? Seems like one or two attack lines from a shore siphon would have sufficed.

  24. LOL. Typical dumb arse aussies, clueless as usual. Why didn't they use a proper fire boat and or a pump from the land? Plenty of water they could have drafted from the sea

  30. Three firemen in an inflatable with a garden hose! Anybody see any sence in that? They should of hooked up a line to it and pulled it to the shallows and let it finish burning! At the point that their "'garden hosing' it, the yacht is fully engulfed in flames, its had it, protect all involved at this point and let it burn itself out.

  32. see what happens when you don't supply responders with the equipment they want and need.
Proper fireboats with all proper PPE and trained personel.
    Support your local responders.
