  4. Hi N & T haven’t had time to watch this yet but will be sat on the boat Saturday ! 2 quick questions if I may?

    1. Are you at the Southampton boat show in a couple of weeks ?

    2. Where did you buy your flexible solar panels from and would you recommend them ? , they are in my shopping list for the boat show Thanks Darrell

  5. Actually, petrol costs in the US and EU are the same. But in the EU there are much higher TAXES built into the pump price. That funds some great train systems, which the US doesn't have. That "gas" price isn't just gas. You might as well lump in medical costs, schools, pensions, and all the taxes if you want a fair comparison. And the price of beer. Busch? (G)

  6. I see Nick had a cold bottle of oil for his throat,😂😂😂. Lubrication is key when 1 is sailing 😹😹😹.

  10. i hope you get a chance to reply to this somewhere. what do you know about in-boom furling vs in-mast? i know the former was introduced to correct problems with the later. also, after selling your boat are you still buying a used boat? and finally, have you looked at Gozzard sailboats? they might be out of your price range though.
    great job you two.

  13. We've gone the same route as you have in the mono v cat question. Three monohulls and now a Leopard 46. Initially wanted a performance cat. Some can make these quick boats look easy, but once you sail a couple fast cats, you realize they are for a select few that can tolerate a rough ride and watch the sails all the time. I just posted a video about our search. Bottom line is that there is no substitute for actually sailing a particular cat before forming an opinion.

  15. Love your videos, BUT, a different microphone is needed to to reduce the often muted/muffled sound.

  16. Hi Guys, Hello from Sydney, have you looked at the Moody 54 Deck Saloon. There is one based in Melbourne called "Blue Water Tracks". This boat type might suit you, and apparently sails very well. This particular boat is sailed, raced and cruised single and double-handled. Might be worth a look. Love your videos, fair winds. Paul

  20. Agreed, I worked for Hans Christian, vagabond, Defever and Outer Reef and never judged, every one got my best. Example: cut off jeans, old beat up baseball hat, paint splattered t shirt, dock shoes to match, wait for it….President of Etna Insurance, my first show with Outer Reef, 1st day, bought 2.5m yacht from me. Sold 2 at that show, Annapolis, Maryland.

  24. I think in boom furling might be better , if the mechanism fails, you can always get the sail down.

  25. Personally I would not even consider a cat for offshore.

  27. HC 33 is a really nice boat , but go to the 38T HC same boat but nicely longer with a 3/4 keel, couple more knots and the 5 feet makes a big difference for long distance.

  32. Rent an RV, great way to see America, just do the whole thing like that, to many flat open spaces. Best way,fly to an area then rent one. No sense in driving through 500 or more miles of corn fields. Cruise America RV rentals does a good job, just get a class A, 34 feet or less, can't get into National parks over 34 feet. Wal-Mart's are free over night, no amenities but well lit and security.

  34. Great live video today, really enjoying the varied nature of the questions and conversation. Keep persevering with the Internet connectivity……not sure about Vodafone, but we changed to T-Mobile from AtnT in the USA partly because they offer International roaming as part of your standard monthly data plan, albeit at 3G not 4G speeds. Might be worth exploring.

Also, do you still have your boat mortgage on Ruby Rose? We're thinking that even after selling our house we might not have quite enough to cover the boat we would really like, and can see a boat mortgage in our future. Any recommendations/hints/tips?

  36. When you leave eu to renew your stay as you were talking about , you have to go 12 miles off shore and can return straight away . When shopping for a used cat , check out Wiliey Sharp ! He vlogs his top 3 cats for the month of ?? Under a $$ amount ! He does under $300,000 US , under $400,000 US , $500,000 US , $750,000 US ect… The best months to buy is June – Sept down in the Caribbean especially in the Grenadines ! Lagoon and Leopards ! You need a lagoon 440 , like sailing Impi with an inside throttle controls when it's storming ! Don't let the front cockpit of the leopards scare you off . They have fast draining in the floor ! Thanks for sharing 😎

  40. ALL Sailboats and sailor are beautiful if someone prefers to sail a mono when we are moored let's have a beer. If the purchase a Cat for space, speed on the water and let's not forget there are many performance Cats – Gunboat, HH, Outremer, etc. – power to them as well and we can share our lives, stories and all that represents the sailing community. Enough mono vs cat crap.
