We’re location sail for the Tuamotus and I’m giddy like an 8-calendar year-outdated chasing down the ice product truck (sure, I genuinely did do that when).

The Marquesas have been incredible (aside from the outrageous rash) but I’m itching (pun intended) to see the well-known French Polynesia atolls.

The Tuamotus are regarded as the harmful archipelago or the Risk Islands. The looming coral reef and narrow passes, if timed inadequately, can more intently resemble rafting a course 5 rapid than sailing. We’ve read some harrowing stories of a few meter standing waves conference a 6-knot latest that are not to be tangoed with.

Doesn’t accurately give tadpoles like us the heat and fuzzies. But, the idea of sailing and swimming within what is primarily a sunken volcano kinda blows my brain. Curiosity trumps hesitation any day for me. Moreover, our fellow cruisers have still left impeccably in depth notes on how to estimate the tides and how to tactic just about every atoll.

Our very first Tuamotu is less than 500 nautical miles absent, which is only a number of days sail! But, as we had been sailing absent from the Marquesas, it hit me just how significantly arranging goes into this salty way of life. So, I decided to get the option to share how we planned this passage.

So Join us as we set sail from the Marquesas Islands towards the the Hazardous Islands. It is French Polynesia Sailing at it truly is finest!

  20. You go guys… Do you carry paper charts? Even though we have all the electronics we would still plot our course and then our location every hour just in case everything else fails, batteries, electronics etc. Gives us something else to do on a passage and especially in the area that you are heading. Just a thought. Sail safe. s/v Euphoria

  38. Nikki, I'm a little disappointed that you didn't make a segment that mirrored your statement. It would have been hilarious to have your voice and a 30's style "danger" theme combined. A "DA DA DAAAaaaaa" with a well timed picture increase accompanied by some ridiculous Hollywood style skit would be awesome. You could even use it as a SNL audition tape 😉

  39. I just love, love your video's. But when you take off on a journey like this one I feel apprehensive about your safety. I trust you know what you are doing and I let go of the fear and ride along and pray. I see you both just walking round on deck with no life jackets and makes me nervous and the cats, I wont even go there. I don't know your dates of leaving and arriving. because you do the videos after wards. So my prayers are that you make a safe journey and I look forward to your next video. I assume it will be when you get to the Archipelagos. I am keeping you all in my prayers again on your journey. Thank you for taking me along. 🙂 🙂
